About Manali..... the properties and marketing.

Manali Limousins was established in 2005 after the complete purchase of Turanville Limousins. This was the foundation of  our seedstock breeding program which complimented an already successful Limousin infused commercial operation.

Manali is owned by Peter, Fay, Jim and Lynda MacCallum and comprises of two properties some 30 Kilometres apart.

PROPERTIES
Manali is located 34 Kms west of Scone at the head of the Dartbrook. It is nestled in the foothills of the Liverpool Ranges - 3000 acres (1214ha) of rich chocolate basalt soils in red gum, white and yellow box country. This is home to the breeding arm of both Manali Limousins stud and commercial operation. The performance horses are also bred and trained at Manali.

Yarramac is an irrigation property consisting of 200 acres (81ha) 10km west of Scone and  is also positioned on the Dartbrook. Half of the property is alluvial black flats and the remainder consists of red loam soils. A centre pivot and sideroll irrigation system enable the property to produce silage hay and improved pastures all year round, maintaining an even plain of nutrition. The feedlot operation is also located at Yarramac.

MARKETING
Cows are grazed and calved down on our high-country property Manali. All calves are weaned at around 8-10 months of age averaging 300 kgs. Steer calves and cull heifers are sent straight to the feedlot at Yarramac where they are finished on grain for around 60 days and sold to trade weights into both Scone and Camden saleyards. Replacement heifers are grazed in our high country on Manali . Bull calves are grazed on oats at Yarramac until they are sold at 14months to 2 years of age either privately or at the annual Northern Breeders Limousin Sale in August.
